NITROGEN VS ELECTRIC CRYOTHERAPY
The biggest decision when purchasing a cryo chamber is deciding between Nitrogen and Electric. Nitrogen cryosaunas were the first cryo systems in the US and quickly overran the industry with promises of ultra-cold temperatures and miracle results for very low cost. The cryotherapy craze was just catching on and Nitrogen was the only choice in cryotherapy back then. The largest US Nitrogen Manufacturer is Impact Cryo, offering US Manufacturing and service. There are many other Nitrogen companies such as Cryo Innovations, Cryo Science, CryoNiq, Magestic, CryoPod, Cryomed, and many more. With Electric Cryotherapy, there is only one Nationwide US Manufacturer, CryoBuilt. There are a handful of other manufacturers in Germany such as Mecotec and Lifecube as well as a new company, Trident Cryo

Nitrogen Cryosaunas
Nitrogen Cryosaunas used to be all of the rage and came onto the scene with a rash of manufacturers and models at attractive prices, making strong claims , and brushing hidden costs and dangers such as nitrogen gas expenses and severe injuries such as burns and even death. Additionally, many nitrogen manufacturers have lied about the temperature of the actual treatment, making wildly inaccurate temperature readings such as seen above as -270F. Nitrogen gas itself is very cold when compressed but it warms quickly as it dissipates. -270F would be good for burning warts off but if you exposed your entire body to that low of a gaseous temperature, you would be covered in burns. Unfortunately, this has caused manufacturers to continue to lie about temperature in order to look better than the other. Other concerns with nitrogen systems include the amount of nitrogen breathed in can cause asphyxiation and death. Aside from safety concerns and general untruthfulness that has haunted nitrogen cryosaunas, the ever increasing cost of nitrogen is a fixed cost that never goes away and eats away at profit margin, often times to the point of being more expensive than the session itself when running a sale, making it impossible to scale. An additonal cost often not discussed is the cost of service. All mechanical systems require service and should be factored in when making a decision. Nitrogen saunas are often listed for resale which is an indicator that someone was not happy with their purchase or had to go out of buiness Before you buy a nitrogen system, be sure to do your research and take all costs into account.
Electric Cryochambers
Electric Cryochambers are a very advanced use of a century's old technology. Electric Cryo does not use any dangerous gasses and is completely breathable producing cold, oxygenated, refrigerated air to achieve the results desired by cryotherapy. Electric Chambers are true whole body cryotherapy that you walk into rather than sticking your head out. Additionally, typically more than 1 person can fit into an electric chamber at a time, sometimes up to 5! This can be a more enjoyable, social experience, and also allows for more sessions per hour and overall increased revenue and ROI that should be factored into any purchasing decision. The fact that your entire body is exposed to the cold air temperatures of cryotherapy brings all kinds of additional health benefits such as activation of the central nervous system and engaging the vagus nerve. The vasoconstriction that occurs during cryotherapy has been shown to be much more effective in Electric cryotherapy systems, proven by uniform skin temperature drops and thermal imaging showing increased blood blow away from the extremities and into the core to protect vital organs and stimulation vasodialation. Skin temperature drops of 30-40 degrees are achieved in 2 to 3 minute sessions and several sessions per hour are possible with quick recovery times. While electric cryotherapy is certainly the superior technology, it is much more difficult to perfect and maintain systems at this exotic temperature. Electric manufacturers are not immune to making lofty claims and some claim false temperatures and promise service they cannot deliver. As always, try before you buy!
